types of Bricks used in Building Construction in Kerala

Let’s look at extra details at the differences/ commonalities, merits/ demerits, what fits where and why.

I.Load Bearing Structures
This is one of the oldest forms of Building Construction in Kerala. In this kind, a building is raised with thick, heavy masonry partitions which can be constructed either the usage of robust bricks or stones. The partitions constructed on this way act because the load bearing aspect which support the entire load of the constructing which include the horizontal ground slabs. The walls switch the weight to the foundation structure. Walls, being the key element on this kind of building creation, are of huge weight and thickness as the stableness of the whole constructing constructed rests on those partitions.

Load bearing Building Constructions are used today predominantly for the purpose of smaller residential scale gadgets, but not very regularly for the construction of large excessive-rise skyscrapers.

Materials used inside the production of Load Bearing StruBricks utilized in constructing creation of Load bearing structures in Keralactures
These are the styles of blocks utilized in load bearing mode of constructing construction in Kerala.

Solid Concrete Block or Cement block: Heavier and more potent than conventional bricks, these blocks are best for the making of big systems throughout constructing production due to its sturdiness, strength and hearth resistance.
Laterite Stones: Laterite Stone additionally known as Vettukallu, is one of the broadly used building materials in Kerala. It is a pink or brown colored sedimentary rock and is cost-powerful when in comparison to bricks. Laterite stones have the capability to preserve coolness inside the walls thereby creating greater secure interiors in summer season.
Interlocking Concrete blocks: Walls can be built using interlocking blocks, with out using cement mortar. It’s interlocking functionality allows shop time in the course of brick laying. Laterite Stone is one of the key ingredients of such blocks too, enables to keep coolness interior houses.
Wire Cut Red Bricks: Wire cut Red Bricks are synthetic via machines, ensures the dimensional accuracy, distinctly long lasting and robust for easy constructing creation.
Rubbles: These are huge portions of irregular sized broken stones used for laying the principles of load bearing Structures. Rubbles may be transported to the site without delay from the quarry.

Merits of Load Bearing Structures
Load bearing systems are solid, durable and are very most economical.
It is aesthetically attractive and requires best easy tools.
Demerits of Load bearing Structures
Load bearing systems are lesser proof against earthquakes whilst as compared to Frame Structures.
It calls for giant guide labor as partitions are built mainly of masonry, that’s made by using hand.

II. Frame Structure System
Concrete Frame Structures also known as the Column-Beam structures, are one of the maximum commonly used forms of building buildings in Kerala in the current instances. This kind of building construction consists of a framework of Call for a Free Quoteconcrete that’s a combination of beams, columns and vertical slabs. The flat ceiling is the vertical slab, horizontal elements are called as beams and the vertical elements are called as columns on this framework. The vertical slabs rests on the horizontal beam, the beam in flip transfers the load to the vertical column which in turn transfers the complete weight to the muse structure. Here, the primary load bearing thing is the column and so damage to a column may want to harm the entire constructing.

As already stated, frame Structure System is a good deal desired in the building creation of huge structures and multi-storey apartments, when as compared to the Load Bearing Wall Structures.

Materials used inside the construction of Frame Structure System
Concrete Frame Structures are commonly constructed using Reinforced Cement Concrete (RCC). Cement Concrete has a very good compressive strength however the tensile power may be very low. In order to increase the tensile energy, reinforcement steel is used at the side of the cement concrete. The aggregate of metallic bars together with cement concrete gives right power to the shape.

Concrete Frame Structures can find the money for to have thinner walls when compared to the burden bearing wall systems. However, when it’s far necessary to have robust and sound-proof enclosures concrete blocks or stones can be used.

The following are the one of a kind varieties of building materials used in the production of walls in frame structure.

Fly ash Clay Bricks have become more popular these days in constructing production. The major attractions are its reliability, durability and moisture resistance. It is especially composed of fly ash, cement, clay and water.
