How to Bend PVC Pipe

4.Pour the sand right into a oven-safe dish and put it in the oven.
Let the sand warmth up with the oven. After the oven has hit 425 °F (281.Three °C), leave the sand in an additional five to 6 mins to rise up to the proper temperature.
If you’ve got a variety of sand, greater than to a few cups, stir it midway through in order that the sand heats up evenly.

5.Carefully pour the hot sand lower back into the PVC pipe. Make certain you wear defensive gloves or oven mitts. Let the sand warmness the pipe up for a couple of minutes, until the PVC feels pliable.

6.Slowly bend the pipe into your desired shape. Once the pipe is soft, it must effortlessly bend with the aid of hand. For a rounder, greater even bend, use an vintage can or comparable spherical, heatproof object and bend the pipe around that.

7.Empty the sand out and permit the pipe cool. Leave the pipe undisturbed and allow it cool back to room temperature. Do now not attempt to bend the pipe once more once you have eliminated the sand. You also can shop the sand to use later, reheating it as usually as you need to bend new pipes.

Make a mark in which the center of the bend wishes to be, then mark an additional six to eight inches on either facet of this center mark. This can be your “warmth quarter,” in which you need to direct the heat.
Keep any deliberate bends as a minimum three to five inches faraway from any joints.
You may need to dam the stop of the pipe with tape to prevent the sand from falling out.

9.Apply the heat flippantly around your deliberate bend. The sand inner will make this take longer, however it also guarantees that the pipe holds its shape and doesn’t cave or warp. Turn the pipe regularly, applying warmness to the inner and outer bend throughout your whole marked warmth sector.
Keep the heat source at least to three inches away from the pipe to save you burning the PVC.

10.Slowly bend the pipe, making use of more warmness as vital. Keep making use of warmth and bending till you get your preferred shape. If you need a super bend, use a steel can or object to offer a “mildew” for you bend.

11.Remove the sand and allow the pipe cool. Do now not try to hold bending the pipe after the sand is eliminated. This can cause cracks and warping. You can save the sand to apply again.
