Ideal Air Conditioner temperature for energy financial savings

How does the thermostat paintings?
If you set the thermostat at 18oC (64.5oF), does it mean that the air conditioner will cool the room faster than in case you set at 25oC (77oF)? No. The thermostat simply checks the temperature of the air inside the room and prevents the compressor when the temperature reaches the preferred level. This means that the compressor will work longer if the temperature is set to a decrease stage, i.E it will paintings extra and use extra strength if the temperature is set to 18oC (64.5oF) than if it’s miles set to 25oC (77oF). This is as it will take less time for the air to reach to 25oC (77oF) than 18oC (64.5oF) as the compressor is operating with the identical strength or wattage.

What takes place when the compressor stops?
The compressor stops running while the thermostat senses that the preferred temperature is reached and most effective the fan works throwing the recirculated air. At this stage the power intake is most effective for the fan which is walking and now not for the compressor. The compressor will start once more when the thermostat detects that the temperature has expanded again from the degrees that are set. Compressor is the maximum electricity ingesting component of an air conditioner. In reality, some of the air conditioners are furnished with a control wherein the fan also stops working for the cause of power-saving and you’ll be able to use the ceiling fan at low velocity to keep the airflow and is helpful in saving strength since the energy consumption of ceiling fan is much less as compared to that of AC fan.
What elements impacts energy consumption of Air Conditioner?
There are four elements that impact the power load:
1) Indoor air temperature

2) Outdoor temperature

3) Thermal insulation of the room

4) Temperature putting of the air conditioner.

If the distinction among temperature preferred and indoor/outdoor temperature is huge, then the air conditioner will want lot extra energy to cool the indoor air to the favored temperature because the compressor will run for an extended length. If the temperature is ready at 18oC (64.5oF) and the out of doors temperature is 38oC (100oF) then the power required can be plenty greater than when thermostat temperature is 24oC (75oF) and outdoor temperature is 38oC (100oF). As consistent with the observe by means of ACEEE (American Council of Energy Efficiency Economy), an increase of each 1oC of thermostat setting can shop 3-five% of devices ate up. This can substantially deliver down the gadgets fed on in keeping with month within the power invoice.
What is the ideal temperature that have to be set on the thermostat?
Having stated that, an growth in temperature does now not reduce the consolation level. In truth, as according to ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers), an appropriate temperature for thermal comfort is among 23.5oC (74.3oF) and 25.5oC (78oF) in summers (depends on numerous elements as listed on wikipedia). Thus setting the temperature to 24oC (75.2oF) saves on energy bill and presents true comfort. Using ceiling fanatics along side air conditioners can additionally assist in increasing the thermostat temperature.

1.5 T break up AC consumes 1.Five kW electricity same to one.5 units of electrical power consumption according to hour if the compressor stays ON for the overall hour. But in practice, the unit consumed depends for the time the compressor is final ON to govern the temperature within the room. Lesser the placing more is the time period for which the compressor will stay on.

Does “Quick Cool” choice in Air Conditioners help?
Setting an air conditioner to short cool sets it’s temperature to 18 or sixteen oC (sixty four.4oF or 60.8oF). This approach that the compressor stops simplest whilst the indoor temperature reaches this stage. But even as coming down from 35 or forty oC (95oF or 104oF) it might have certainly crossed 24oC (75.2oF) which is a relaxed temperature. So the usage of “Quick Cool” choice does now not assist because greater electricity is used to get the temperature right down to 18oC (sixty four.5oF) whereas compressor would have stopped in between if the temperature turned into set to 24oC (75.2oF) thereby ingesting much less energy.

How do antique air conditioners without thermostat paintings?
Old air conditioners with out a thermostat have high, medium and occasional cool options. As we learnt earlier that compressors of air conditioners paintings in binary mode (both they’re on or off), an air conditioner without thermostat does not manipulate air temperature. The high, medium and occasional options just alternate the air conditioner fan pace. High manner that air conditioner will throw extra air and occasional method that the fan speed could be sluggish.
