The present trendy recommendation of the Board is to tap on half of the circumference of the tree, after the tree attains a girth of fifty cm. Rubber flora gain this girth in seven years after planting.

After initiation of tapping, the price of increase is reduced to 2 cm in a year, even inside the holdings where tapping is good.

However, within the new gadget, wherein one-fourth the circumference of the tree is tapped, and tapping takes location as soon as in three days, increase is unaffected.

Yield stimulant (ethaphone) need to be applied at 2.5 consistent with cent concentration six times a yr, so that no drop in yield is skilled, it stated.

When contacted, KU Thomas, Joint Director, Rubber Research Institute of India, informed BusinessLine that rubber tapping in India is accomplished on a frequency of half spiral cut under as soon as in three days frequency. To begin this tapping, the tree have to have at least 50 cm girth. However, growers start tapping at an early stage of 44-45 cm. But they tag on a half spiral, which ends up in bad boom of the tree.
