Should I step on the clutch or brake pedal first when coming to a stop?

Since you asked us, and we in Top Gear Philippines are heavily overall performance-orientated, I need to say: We firmly stand with the latter faculty of notion.

The grab-first-shift-into-neutral-then-coast-and-brake-to-a-forestall idea is well and exact in case you’re hypermiling and looking to keep as a great deal gasoline (and reduce put on and tear on the car’s drivetrain) as viable. However, this approach has some danger involved in it, and it additionally places delivered wear and tear on the auto’s brakes.

But the maximum unpleasant aspect of this school of idea is reduced manage. When you’re coasting to a forestall in impartial, the most effective way of manipulate which you have with the auto while a doubtlessly dangerous scenario arises are your brakes and your steering wheel. If, say, you needed to boost up faraway from a doubtlessly dangerous state of affairs, that choice continues to be a grab and shift away.

Braking and sequentially moving down is the better manner to come to a prevent. Step on the grasp most effective to equipment down and most effective when the engine revolutions attain 1,000rpm, simply to hold the engine from bogging down. This is the higher way because it’s miles the more secure manner.

It presents the motive force the maximum manipulate over the automobile. Should the motive force want to keep away from a potentially dangerous scenario, all the manipulate structures are engaged. The brakes may be used, the guidance wheel can be used, and the accelerator may be used to avoid any threat. The drivetrain is engaged, and therefore, all of the means of control are operational.
