modern kerala home designs and interiors
Belonging to a movie director, this villa is designed like an ancestral home via interior fashion designer Ganesh Nair of Whitespace who carefully created a tranquil sanctuary that has a nostalgic pleasant to it. This 6,000-rectangular-toes villa is located in a small metropolis near Palghat in Kerala, on a massive plot along the banks of a river. The patron is a famous Malayalam movie director—a family call in Kerala. He and his family wished to stay in a area that become snug and familiar. “All through the briefing, the one phrase that stood out and therefore described the design fashion become ‘tharavad,’ that is a normal ancestral domestic of Kerala. The consumer’s circle of relatives desired to experience like they had moved into a ‘tharavad,’ characterised by an indoor courtyard and the heavy use of timber, terracotta, greenery and bricks. However, we consciously avoided overdoing the ethnic elements and interspersed the look with a few present day pieces to break the monotony,” states Nair.

Quarantine time could pass like a breeze inside this home talented with awesome perspectives and sounds of the sea. The interiors of this Kerala house, conceptualised by Design Consortium, are largely traditional with modern impacts. “The house is a direct architectural reaction to the couple’s life-style and sensibilities. The proprietors wanted the interiors designed like a traditional Kerala home. So we went with wide-open areas accentuated with plenty of herbal mild and ocean breeze seeping in thru all instructions. The structure with timber rafters and a sloping, Mangalore-tiled roof could be very nearby,” explains Nilanjan Bhowal, founder and foremost architect of Design Consortium. Given a very clean canvas to work with, Bhowal has boldly complemented the house’s length capabilities with bespoke fixtures, sculptural lighting, textured fabric and bursts of coloration, in addition to the customers’ playful artwork series of art work, images and sculptures. But most importantly the house reflects concord and quietness thru a deep connection with nature.
