Glass Fibre Reinforced Gypsum Panels Homes
Glass Fibre Reinforced Gypsum (GFRG) panels is known for building low cost and environment-friendly houses whose construction can be completed in an impressively short time. The GFRG is promoted by the building materials and technology promotion council which functions under the central ministry of housing. The walls of the bathrooms and the roof of the house, constructed using GFRG panels, become naturally water roof.
The main raw materials used to make the GFRG panels are phospho gypsum, rowing glass and ammonium carbonate. The panels which are 3 meters wide and 12 meters long have a width of 0.124 meters or 5 inches. These panels weight around 1800 kilos. A square meter of GFRG panels cost Rs 1120, while an entire panels costs around Rs 40000. As the width of the panel is 5 inches, the carpet area ratio would be more. It helps reduce the cost of construction. The hollow cavities in the 3 meters wide and 12 meters long panels help balance the weight of the house. The use of cement, steel and sand could be reduced.
