When it decided to renovate the original structure, Simpson cautioned to maintain the historic charm of the building. To accomplish this, he emphasized traditional features using industrial and recycled materials and adopted a conservatively restrained approach.

The renovation of the structure of the 20th century was not completely smooth process. The renovation team had to rebuild and repair the cracks and flake concrete of the chicory kiln after the construction had already begun. In order to solve this problem, Simpson worked closely with the builder and chose to use shotcrete, concrete which protruded at high speed on the rebar.

A bright and airy kitchen and dining room will open from the entrance. The open plan living space creates a social atmosphere that Anderson and Ronessh entertain pleasant guests. Hoop plywood and stainless steel kitchen are one of the strange aspects of the house. The mobile cabinet can be reconfigured for various uses within the downstairs area and you can access the stairs and extra counter space as needed
