Project designers Brent Potter and Courtney Rogers of Renewal Design-Build designed an open floorplan and the addition of small entries that have enormous influences, combining modern and contemporary elements of the Middle Ages. A dynamic new entry gives the modern feel of the house’s facade the Middle Ages, floods the main floor with natural light and creates the necessary indoor connections for the cellar. When the couple bought the house, they evaluated that they did not have the exact style they were built in the 50’s and liked the strong features such as the courtyard. The team spent a lot of time to run through the neighborhood and confirmed whether the design respects neighboring styles. It is an underground entrance door. An important wish in the list of homeowners was to access the basement from within the house. Adding the stairs inside using the existing floorplan makes the valuable living space too large.
